Dr. Thomas Schroeder Bio

Thomas Schroeder is a postdoctoral research associate at Harvard University in Joanna Aizenberg's lab. His current research explores how polymer gels can exert control over the crystallization of phase change materials, a process accompanied by the release of heat and profound mechanical and optical changes. Prior to his time at Harvard, he received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan in Michael Mayer's group, with which he also spent nearly three years conducting research at the Adolphe Merkle Institute in Fribourg, Switzerland. He is broadly interested in polymers, gels, and molecular assemblies as responsive kinetic barriers that regulate transport in both biological and engineered contexts.
